    Algiers → Djanet

    • Domestic flight Algiers–Djanet
    • Casbah of Algiers, UNESCO World Heritage Site

The journey begins in Algiers, where we will be welcomed by the local team and accompanied to the hotel. The first day is devoted to arrival, relaxation and the initial briefing, in preparation for departure to the Algerian Sahara.

On the second day, after breakfast, we will visit Algiers and its famous Casbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with some of the capital's most representative places.

In the evening we will transfer to the airport for the domestic flight to Djanet, the gateway to the Tassili N'Ajjer. On arrival we will be welcomed by the local team and spend the night in a hotel, ready to start the motorcycle adventure the next morning.

  2. Day 3

    Tinamaly

    • Dunes, sand and rock formations

We will leave Djanet to venture at last into the heart of the Sahara, heading for Tinamaly. The first tracks will take us through dunes, sand and majestic rock formations, in an increasingly wild and spectacular landscape.

Along the way we will stop at the most evocative spots for photographs and short explorations.

In the afternoon we will reach the tented camp at Tinamaly, where we will enjoy our first sunset in the desert and our first dinner under the stars of the Tassili.

  3. Day 4

    Moul n'Aga

    • Golden dunes and rocky mountains

We will set off from Tinamaly for Moul n'Aga, crossing an extremely varied desert landscape of golden dunes, rocky mountains and wide open spaces.

This area is historically linked to the ancient Saharan caravan routes, in a land where sand and rock alternate continuously.

In the afternoon we will arrive at the camp, with time to relax at sunset, dine in the desert and spend another night in a bivouac.

  4. Day 5

    Tin Merzouga

    • By motorcycle and on foot
    • Prehistoric rock art

The fifth day will take us to Tin Merzouga, one of the most spectacular areas of the Tadrart, famous for its imposing red sand dunes.

We will explore the area by motorcycle and on foot, climbing the highest dunes and reaching caves and natural shelters where prehistoric rock engravings and paintings can still be seen.

The red dunes, the rock art and the panorama of the Tadrart will make this one of the signature days of the journey through the Tassili N'Ajjer.

  5. Days 6 and 7

    Iherir & Essendilene

    • Iherir oasis
    • Erg Admer
    • Essendilene guelta

After days dominated by sand and rock, the landscape will change completely as we reach the oasis of Iherir. Perennial water, vegetation and palm groves create a surprising contrast with the surrounding desert.

We will have the chance to discover the oasis and get closer to the life of the local communities, before resuming our journey across the Erg Admer.

The route will then take us to Essendilene, inside a rocky canyon where there is an evocative guelta: a mirror of water set between high rock walls. In the area we will also see traces of ancient Tuareg settlements.

  6. Days 8, 9 and 10

Tikabaouine · Algiers · The return

    • Natural arches of Tikabaouine
    • Night flight Djanet–Algiers
    • Cherchell and Tipaza

The last day in the Sahara will take us to Tikabaouine, across a landscape sculpted by erosion and dominated by its great natural rock arches.

In the afternoon we will return to Djanet, where we will prepare the motorcycles and transfer to the airport for the night flight to Algiers.

Before returning to Italy we will have one more day to discover the Algerian coast: we will visit Cherchell and the Roman archaeological site of Tipaza, overlooking the Mediterranean.

The tenth day is devoted to the journey home, taking with us the memories of a trip lived among red dunes, canyons, oases, bivouacs and some of the most extraordinary landscapes of the Sahara.

The nights in the bivouac, the presence of the local Tuareg guides and the company of Alex Zanotti will let us experience the Sahara up close, following its rhythms, landscapes and culture.
